  • We hope everyone had a nice August.

Wed Sept. 6 – Full Moon Tara Prayer
The first day after our break will be a Full Moon Tara practice on Wed. Sept. 6 @ 7:00 PM

Sun Sept. 10 – Current Teaching
Our regular teaching will begin from Sunday, September 10, 2017 @ 10AM. On this day Geshe la wants to give a comprehension test on karmic cause and effect. Geshe la will ask questions and students will write down the answers on pieces of sheets and submit them without signing their names. We will know the result on Sunday, September 17. Once Geshe la is satisfied that we have a good grasp of this teaching, he will go on to the next set of teachings as follows:

The Three Principle Aspects of the Path
    By Je Tsong Kha Pa

Contains the essence of the entire teaching of Lord Buddha. They are:
    1) Renunciation, the wish to be free from Samsara
    2) Bodhicitta, the mind of enlightenment
    3) Perfect View (Empty nature of all dharma).

    Meditation/Prayer on Tuesdays resume Sept. 12 @ 7:00 PM

Meditation Instruction Sat Sept. 23 @ 10:00 AM
We are trying to schedule meditation instruction every so often to teach newcomers and review techniques for those already familiar. Our next session is open for signup on this page.

We will send reminder emails as events approach.

  • Tibetan word of the day: ལྷན་ཅིག་བྱེད་པའི་རྐྱེན་

    ལྷན་ཅིག་བྱེད་པའི་རྐྱེན་

    co-operating conditions

Spelling (jorlok; Tib. སྦྱོར་ཀློག་) and pronunciation:
    ལྷན་ – la ha-tak hla na hlen
ཅིག་ – ca gigu ci ga cig (chik)
བྱེད་ – ba ya-tak ja drengbu je da je
    པའི་ – pa a gigu i pe
རྐྱེན་ – ra ka-tak ka ya-tak kya drengbu kye na kyen
    hlen chik je pe kyen

From class, we discussed results that do and don’t use the
co-operating conditions of soil and water, such as a tree and fire, respectively.

Geshe la encourages us to learn Tibetan to help gain deeper
understanding of the teachings, and gain access to prayers and rituals that have not been translated. The Tibetan word of the day is offered to give regular exposure to Tibetan reading and vocabulary.
