• Our regular Tuesday prayer coincides with Halloween. Since we have a full moon next week on Friday, we will move the prayer to that day and do a Full Tara prayer. It will take place Friday Nov 3 at 7PM.

For the Full Tara prayer, please

    • bring your vajra and bell if you have them
    • bring offerings for the altar: flowers, fruits or cookies made without eggs or animal fats.
    • avoid eating meat, eggs, onions or garlic during the day until after the prayers.

  • Saturday October 28th 2017 10 am – 12 pm

The teaching will loosely follow this format, but Geshe la may adjust as needed:

    10 AM – Instruction
    10:45 AM – Practice
    Break
    11 AM – Q/A and further instruction
11:45 AM – More practice as time permits

This session will open up discussion for any questions from those who attended the first session on September 23, 2017. It is suitable for beginners as well as those who have participated before and would like to review the techniques. You are welcome to join if you missed the last session.

The previous session primarily covered the benefits of meditation, setting the proper motivation, and the basic body positioning. Geshe la will delve further and build on top of this foundation.

  • Tibetan word of the day: ལྷན་ཅིག་བྱེད་པའི་རྐྱེན་

    ལྷན་ཅིག་བྱེད་པའི་རྐྱེན་

    co-operating conditions

Spelling (jorlok; Tib. སྦྱོར་ཀློག་) and pronunciation:
    ལྷན་ – la ha-tak hla na hlen
ཅིག་ – ca gigu ci ga cig (chik)
བྱེད་ – ba ya-tak ja drengbu je da je
    པའི་ – pa a gigu i pe
རྐྱེན་ – ra ka-tak ka ya-tak kya drengbu kye na kyen
    hlen chik je pe kyen

From class, we discussed results that do and don’t use the
co-operating conditions of soil and water, such as a tree and fire, respectively.

Geshe la encourages us to learn Tibetan to help gain deeper
understanding of the teachings, and gain access to prayers and rituals that have not been translated. The Tibetan word of the day is offered to give regular exposure to Tibetan reading and vocabulary.
