Dear friend,

This Saturday December 12, 2015, the teaching will start at 1 pm as Lynn-la has to attend an event at The Tibetan Community. Thanks for understanding.

Thursday Tara prayer starts at 7 pm as usual. Further to last Thursday’s teachings on purification meditation through Tara practice, please google the letters Om Ah Hung in Tibetan script that Geshe la wants us to visualize or follow this link http://wordpress.us9.list-manage.com/track/click?u=c018426a7c83af8577d77b9f6&id=200a2a990b&e=c7871960ed.

Thanks

  • Tibetan word of the day: གཞི་གྲུབ་

    གཞི་གྲུབ་

    Established basis

Spelling (jorlok; Tib. སྦྱོར་ཀློག་) and pronunciation:
    གཞི་ – ga-o zha gigu zhi
གྲུབ་ – ga ra-tak dra zhabkyu dru ba drub
    zhi drub

    From class notes:

“First, what must be understood is this: the established basis (Tib. གཞི་གྲུབ་ gzhi grub), object of knowledge (Tib. ཤེས་བྱ་ shes bya), existence (Tib. ཡོད་པ་ yod pa), and phenomena (Tib. ཆོས་ chos) are all of one meaning.

The meaning of an established basis is that which is established by valid cognition (Skt. pramāṇa).”

Geshe la encourages us to learn Tibetan to help gain deeper
understanding of the teachings, and gain access to prayers and rituals that have not been translated. The Tibetan word of the day is offered to give regular exposure to Tibetan reading and vocabulary.
