• Hello Dharma Friends,

    A reminder that we have our annual fundraising event later this month.

    We will be having our annual fundraiser for the Jam Tse Cho Ling Calgary Tibetan Buddhist Temple on Saturday, August 26, 2023 at the Marlborough Community Association located at 636 Marlborough Way NE, Calgary, AB T2A 2V9. The doors open for this event at 5pm, with program starting at 6pm and end at 10pm.  

    This enjoyable event will feature a buffet dinner, local entertainment and a bazaar. 

    If you are interested but haven’t bought a ticket yet, please reach out.  This way we can can accordingly for food, having as little waste as possible.

    Yamantaka (Buddha of wisdom) is a meditational deity (Tibetan: Yi-dam) of the highest yoga tantra class. This ritual is most powerful in purifying and healing after-stroke complications, toxic effects of environmental pollutions, and negative energies that cause suffering, stress, fear, anxiety, etc.

    Join us for an enjoyable evening of live performances, dinner, a Tibetan marketplace, and more!

    Regular Dharma Teaching

    The Jam Tse Cho Ling Calgary Dharma teaching occurs every Sunday at 11am MT. The schedule can be checked on the website.

    Temple doors are open earlier for those who’d like to meditate before the teaching (10:00am-10:45am).

    Buddhist Psychology and logic

    For those interested in the workings of the mind, we are piloting a separate class to delve into this topic more deeply. This Buddhist psychology class will take place on Saturdays at 11am-12:30pm.

    honourific form of mother

    Spelling (jorlok; Tib. སྦྱོར་ཀློག་) and pronunciation:
    ཡུམ་ – ya zhabkyu yu ma yum (yoom)


    Geshe la encourages us to learn Tibetan to help gain deeper
    understanding of the teachings, and gain access to prayers and rituals that have not been translated. The Tibetan word of the day is offered to give regular exposure to Tibetan reading and vocabulary.
