• A reminder that next week we will have a Full Moon Tara Prayer on Wednesday, May 10th 7pm. This replaces the regular scheduled prayer for that week (which would normally be on Tuesday).

For the Full Tara prayer, please

    • bring your vajra and bell if you have them
    • bring offerings for the altar: flowers, fruits or cookies made without eggs or animal fats.
    • avoid eating meat, eggs, onions or garlic during the day until after the prayers.

  • We are currently on the 5th of the preparatory practices. Over the next 2 sessions Geshe la will go over cause and effect, as this is an important prerequisite for understanding this part of Jorchoe

    1. Purifying the space and setting up the representations of body, speech & mind of Buddha. This involves cleaning the altar room, setting up the altar, etc. which will be a very auspicious beginning.
    2. Arranging the offerings
    3. Resting in 7-point Vairochana’s equipoise, setting motivation, taking refuge and arousing bodhicitta
    4. Visualizing the merit field
    5. Accumulating merit and purifying misdeeds through the seven-limb prayer and offering mandala
    6. Requesting inspiration through prayers

  • Tibetan word of the day: ལྷན་ཅིག་བྱེད་པའི་རྐྱེན་

    ལྷན་ཅིག་བྱེད་པའི་རྐྱེན་

    co-operating conditions

Spelling (jorlok; Tib. སྦྱོར་ཀློག་) and pronunciation:
    ལྷན་ – la ha-tak hla na hlen
ཅིག་ – ca gigu ci ga cig (chik)
བྱེད་ – ba ya-tak ja drengbu je da je
    པའི་ – pa a gigu i pe
རྐྱེན་ – ra ka-tak ka ya-tak kya drengbu kye na kyen
    hlen chik je pe kyen

From class, we discussed results that do and don’t use the
co-operating conditions of soil and water, such as a tree and fire, respectively.

Geshe la encourages us to learn Tibetan to help gain deeper
understanding of the teachings, and gain access to prayers and rituals that have not been translated. The Tibetan word of the day is offered to give regular exposure to Tibetan reading and vocabulary.
