  • As we approach the end of 2022, we wanted to take the opportunity to say Thank You for your ongoing support which enabled us to achieve the following:

    • Opening the temple to the public in February 2022.
    • Completing the first and second phases of renovations which included complete remodeling of the existing structure, moving utilities, furnace, duct work, flooring, the outside deck, and constructing the beautiful altar and statue wall.
    • Over 30 Wednesday Tara prayer and meditations, over 30 Sunday Dharma teachings, a weekend retreat of reading from the Kangyur, our Saka Dawa Open House, Guru Pujas, Vajrasattva prayers
    • August and September annual visit and teachings by our founder HE Neten Tulku Rinpoche including Green and White Tara Empowerments, Avalokiteshavara Empowerments, Medicine Buddha prayers, and the Yamantaka Purification Ritual.

While we are very thankful for these results, our temple requires ongoing funding to complete our renovations and to sustain the temple’s daily operations so we can continue to offer and expand on our programs.

As we approach the end of this year, we wanted to let you know that a generous matching donation of up to $3,400 has been offered by some anonymous donors.

That means for every $1 you donate before December 31, 2022, your gift will be matched which will double the impact of your gift. Also, as we are a registered charity (# 811478239RR0001), we are able to issue tax receipts for every donation you make of $20 or more.

You can easily make a donation by visiting the websites below or dropping off a donation to the temple during teachings by December 18, 2022.

If you have any questions or require assistance in making your donation, please contact:
Michelle Schulz 403-804-3421 or email michelle.schulz@jtclcalgary.ca.

  • We are now entering the fourth great occasion in Buddha’s life. Buddha’s mother Maha Maya had been reborn in the heaven of Thirty Three. To repay her kindness and to benefit the gods, Buddha spent three months teaching in the Heaven of 33.The day Buddha returned to the world was celebrated as Lha Bab Düchen. Although some traditions celebrate this on full moon day, we Tibetans celebrate it on the 22nd of the 9th lunar month. It is our good fortune that we have this special day to practice. Because of its huge potency, every action good or bad is multiplied 1 million times as per Lama Sopa Rinpoche FPMT

This year, the 22nd of the 9th lunar month falls on November 15 2022.

Geshe la will be leading us through Guru Puja prayers. You are invited to bring an offering of flowers, fruit or cookies for the altar.

    Event information:
924 36 St SE (Jam Tse Cho Ling Calgary Temple)
    Tuesday November 15th, 6:30pm-8:30pm

  • Tibetan word of the day: ལྷན་ཅིག་བྱེད་པའི་རྐྱེན་

    ལྷན་ཅིག་བྱེད་པའི་རྐྱེན་

    co-operating conditions

Spelling (jorlok; Tib. སྦྱོར་ཀློག་) and pronunciation:
    ལྷན་ – la ha-tak hla na hlen
ཅིག་ – ca gigu ci ga cig (chik)
བྱེད་ – ba ya-tak ja drengbu je da je
    པའི་ – pa a gigu i pe
རྐྱེན་ – ra ka-tak ka ya-tak kya drengbu kye na kyen
    hlen chik je pe kyen

From class, we discussed results that do and don’t use the
co-operating conditions of soil and water, such as a tree and fire, respectively.

Geshe la encourages us to learn Tibetan to help gain deeper
understanding of the teachings, and gain access to prayers and rituals that have not been translated. The Tibetan word of the day is offered to give regular exposure to Tibetan reading and vocabulary.
