དལ་བ་
leisure; freedom
Spelling (jorlok; Tib. སྦྱོར་ཀློག་) and pronunciation:
དལ་ – da la del
བ་ – wa
del wa
Notes:
– la suffix changes “a” vowel to sound like “ä”, hence simplified to “del” – ba often sounds like wa when coming after an initial syllable of a word (varies by dialect)
– used in our recent teachings on the “Eight freedoms”, དལ་བ་བརྒྱད་
Geshe la encourages us to learn Tibetan to help gain deeper
understanding of the teachings, and gain access to prayers and rituals that have not been translated. The Tibetan word of the day is offered to give regular exposure to Tibetan reading and vocabulary.
